Stand-downs and suspensions
Cases per 1,000 students in 2025, adjusted for the ages of the school’s students, compared with all New Zealand schools.
Suspensions: fewer than 5 cases in 2025, so no rate is shown.
These measure how a school responds to behaviour, and schools set their own thresholds, so they are not a measure of how students behave.
What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from October 2025. ERO found good quality teaching, a broad curriculum that ties learning to local contexts and iwi, strong support for students with complex needs, and an inclusive environment where students are highly engaged and feel they belong.
Results are uneven, though: a small majority of students are at or above the expected level in reading, but less than half are in writing and maths, and results in those two subjects are not yet equitable across groups.
In the rumaki, ERO found quality teaching through te reo Māori in a nurturing Māori setting, but less than a third of ākonga were at the expected level in pānui and tuhituhi, with a small majority in pāngarau.
Only a small majority of students attend regularly, which is behind the government target, although attendance is improving and chronic absence is falling.
The key priorities are to keep lifting attendance, embed a structured approach to maths, check whether professional learning in writing is speeding up progress and making results fairer, and make better use of assessment in the rumaki to follow each student’s progress.
ERO also found one area of non-compliance, about sighting and recording identification when staff are appointed, which the board has since addressed.

Enrolling
Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol, with proof of address. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places, and students accepted into the Rūmaki Reo programme come first in the priority order, followed by siblings and other priority groups.
Families apply through the online enrolment form on the school’s enrolments page and then email the supporting documents. The page lists the documents needed and the school publishes each year’s opening and closing dates there.
