About Pirimai North
Pirimai was one of the four post-1931 reclaimed-land suburbs in southern Napier. The land was previously part of the Te Whanganui-ā-Orotū lagoon, which was uplifted and drained by the earthquake. Housing development began in 1961–62, later than the neighbouring Onekawa suburb to the north. The suburb follows a mid-century planned layout with a clear grid, generous sections and provision for local schools and recreation spaces.
Pirimai North contains the established residential streets on the northern side of the suburb.
