Napier is one of New Zealand’s leading cycling cities — the Hawke’s Bay Trails / i-Way network is one of Ngā Haerenga / NZ Cycle Trails‘ 22 Great Rides, covering 200+ km of mostly flat, sealed shared paths connecting Napier, Hastings and Havelock North. The network includes the Marine Parade waterfront, the Ahuriri Estuary loop, the Napier–Taradale Pathway, and longer rides extending to the Tukituki Valley vineyards and Cape Kidnappers.
All trails are signposted, mostly off-road, and suitable for families, e-bikes and road bikes. Bike hire and guided wine tours operate year-round from Napier and Havelock North. Spring through autumn is the prime cycling season — the Hawke’s Bay climate is among NZ’s sunniest and driest.
