Bin collection days for every Napier suburb, what goes in each bin, and where to drop off everything else.
Napier homes have a 120 litre rubbish bin and three black recycling crates, for paper and cardboard, plastics and cans, and glass, all collected every week. Here is how to find your collection day, what goes in each bin, and where to take everything else.
Have your bins out by 7am on collection day. A few streets differ from the rest of their suburb, so check your exact address with the council’s lookup.
Your allowance is the 120 litre bin each week. Extra bags beside the bin are treated as illegal dumping.
How do the three crates work?
Use them however you like, for example two for plastics and cans and one for paper, but never mix materials in one crate. Crates stay with the property, and extra crates can't be bought.
Can I pay less if I put my bin out less?
Under the Less Waste Incentive, households that put their bin out 26 times or fewer between 1 June and 31 May get a rates remission the next year. You need to sign up.
Is there a garden waste collection?
No. Use a commercial contractor or take it to Redclyffe Transfer Station, where green waste is $162 a tonne, minimum $11.80 under 60kg.
