What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from January 2025. ERO found that teachers have moved to structured, evidence-based teaching of reading, writing and maths, which has built stronger foundation literacy and lifted reading results.

The majority of learners keep making progress over time, students have a strong sense of belonging and pride in their identity, and leaders use achievement information well to judge what is working.

ERO noted that writing results are lower than reading and maths, that the school is working to close a gap for Pacific students, and that fewer than half of students attended regularly.

The next steps agreed with ERO are to build an attendance plan with whānau, speed up progress for students who need it with a focus on writing, bring the school’s curriculum and assessment into line with changes to The New Zealand Curriculum, and use a coaching approach to strengthen teaching and leadership.
