What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from September 2025. ERO found success and progress rising for all learners, with a large majority of students at or above expected levels in reading and maths and a small majority in writing, where results are not yet equitable across groups. It described good teaching, structured literacy and maths approaches across the school, well-resourced classrooms, good support for students with additional needs and a caring, inclusive setting. Only a small majority of students attend regularly, and regular attendance is not yet improving.
ERO’s priorities for the school are better attendance, clear expectations for teaching and assessment at every year level, stronger te ao Māori and links with whānau, hapū and iwi, and wider community consultation to shape the school’s direction.
ERO recommended the Ministry of Education give specialist help with community consultation and curriculum review. It also found gaps in identity records for staff safety checks and in keeping in-committee minutes, which the board has since addressed.

Enrolling
St Patrick’s is a state-integrated Catholic school with no home zone. Its enrolment policy gives preference to children whose families have a connection with the school’s Catholic special character, with preference confirmed by the parish priest.
A limited share of places is open to non-preference students, with a waiting list when places are full. Families pay attendance dues, and students take part in the school’s special character programme.
Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the school’s website or collected from the office, and they need to be signed by a parish priest.
