What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from March 2024. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how well its programmes and targeted teaching help students make faster progress in literacy and maths.

ERO noted the school’s Montessori classroom and pointed to an inclusive, caring setting where students feel they belong and are very engaged, leaders and staff who work together to get better at evaluating their own practice, sound systems for tracking each student’s progress, and access to focused professional learning.

Next, the school plans to build a shared understanding of what faster progress looks like and what conditions support it, keep using internal evaluation to guide its planning, share what it learns and the results for students, and keep a close eye on the students it has targeted for extra support.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places. The school’s site says the board holds ballots for out-of-zone children during the year, with dates available from the school office.

Families can download an enrolment form from the school’s website or collect an enrolment pack from the school, and a birth certificate is needed to confirm the child’s date of birth.
