Things to do in Napier

An awesome list of attractions and activities in Napier

Napier’s attractions span the world-famous Art Deco city centre — rebuilt after the 1931 earthquake — through the Marine Parade waterfront with the Sound Shell, National Aquarium of New Zealand, Sunken Gardens and the iconic Pania of the Reef statue, plus the surrounding Hawke’s Bay region. Beyond the city, day-trip destinations include the Cape Kidnappers gannet colony, Te Mata Peak in Havelock North, the world-renowned Hawke’s Bay vineyards, the MTG Hawke’s Bay Museum, and the 200 km Hawke’s Bay Trails / i-Way cycling network.

The Art Deco Trust runs guided walking tours of the central city year-round, and the annual Art Deco Festival (mid-February) is one of New Zealand’s largest heritage events.
